Thrift Store Pottery Score

DSCI0003 Today mom and I went to Salisbury to our favorite thrift store. I found some pottery pieces in browns, orange and putty colors. The over-sized salt and pepper shakers mix with some of my serving pieces. The little bowl will go in our bathroom to hold my jewelry. My favorite piece is the little vase with orange flowers...very mod in an earthy kind of way. DSCI0002 I also found this funky mirror for Paige's bathroom. It's regular on one end and magnified on the other and of course orange. DSCI0001Yesterday Paige brought home some of her pottery from Pottery 1 class. She loves magna drawings and made this Queen Serenity (Sailor Moon) sculpture. Nice job Paige!DSCI0004

Flowers on Friday

After walking this morning, I was inspired to work in the yard. I planted this wonderful orange rose bush called Tropicana.DSCI0010The color is deep and pure. I also put 3 Autumn Ferns in my front shade garden. They are perennial and very textural.DSCI0012 I've been saving this can for a Hen and Chicks succulent and finally got one.DSCI0011 This planter has been in my yard forever and is a minanature outdoor scene. DSCI0014 I'm hoping to complete some outdoor projects this weekend like our fountain.

Thursday Perks

DSCI0005 DSCI0003 Today is grocery day and I always enjoy going to the store. I mentally plan a week of meals and snacks for my family and most of the time find a prize for myself. Today I found these pretty Lily's in the reduced section.DSCI0002Before the grocery store, I went by Marshall's and found this table/stool for Paige's room next to her bed. I sit in there and we talk at night so I'll have something to sit on now. Better yet, it was on clearance. DSCI0001 Out front I have a planter that gets direct sun and plants never do well there. While I was at Target I bought some balls to "plant" there for the summer. I also found this cute summer fencing. It was the last pack in black.

Look what I found nestled in my ivy.DSCI0004 There are 4 kittens about 8 weeks old.

New Vintage Dress

Last week I found a vintage dress at the thrift store and guess what color it is...Orange paisley. The dress has slight gathering at the neckline under the collar. Dsci0001 Dsci0002 I also found these funky tan boots. They look really mod and are brand new and extremely comfortable.Dsci0003 What exciting finds for me!

I'm waiting on this to arrive this week. A tee from Variousandsundry on Etsy. He looks like a marshmellow man.guy or girl shirt...many colors...matchstick man

Weekend Happenings

Late nights and junk food are taking a toll on my body and mind. Along with being tired and a few pounds heavier, I have no motivation to clean, walk and be productive. Hopefully this week will perk me up. My friend is coming into town for the week from Virginia and we'll walk in the morning and I'll walk with Janice in the evenings. Paige is in the art show at school Thursday night and that will be fun.

Back to the weekend...Friday night Paige and I went to see my neighbor play Legion ball and the game wasn't over until 10:30. I dead headed my roses...which took forever...Saturday but the job was easy with the new trimmers my mom gave me.Dsci0001 Saturday night the family went to the Winston. Ok it's really the Sprint All-Star Shootout but I'm old school racing so I still call it that. My husband has worked on race teams for over 20 years now and we've NEVER watched a race from the stands. It was a different experience with the noise, wild crowds, and the traffic. We didn't get home until 1:00 am and we only live 10 miles from the speedway. Randy and I decided we preferred watching the race from home.Dsci0007 Paige took a male friend. These times they are a changing...now we're almost 3 adults in the house and it's a little weird but nice. Sunday we rested and I watched HGTV.

Today I'm watching sheets and putting on summer weight blankets. I'll be changing some curtains to lighter ones and straightening up. I did make time this morning to scan Etsy some. This little gem came from Etsy last week.Dsci0004

Garden Pretties

My garden is one of my favorite places especially when it's cool enough to stroll through it. It's a cloudy, cool day but these pretties brighten things up.Dsci0005_2 The big, low pot was a gift from my sister-in-law and is my favorite. It's so natural looking. TheseDsci0006  roses are named 4th of July and the red and white together really pops. This GeranimumDsci0008  blooms looks very similar to the roses. It's in a hanging basket iDsci0011 n the trees. Speaking of colorful, my mailbox is potted in an old  galvanized tub with pink roses. The blooms are bowed over now.  Dsci0016

Memorable Asheville Trip and Mother's Day

Our trip to Asheville was a memorable one. We all joined together to celebrate the college graduation of my niece from UNC-Asheville. Dsci0010 In four quick years, her college adventure is over but her time in Asheville isn't over yet. She has Dsci0016planned to stay there for awhile and if all goes well teacher 3rd grade. The weather turned cold and breezy but the sky was beautiful for the day. Congratulations Katie.

Mother's Day was a restful one after the trip. My family took me to Applebees...one of my favorite places. They gave me a $25 I-tunes card for my very own...no sharing with Paige. (what I usually do). I REALLY love my music for walking and I love getting new songs.

The entire weekend was so nice but Monday is here and it's back to the routine. I like that too though.

Art Club Tee

Paige is in the art club at HS and is taking Pottery 1 this semester. The club decided to make the club shirts instead of having them printed and all the same. After school last week, they met and tye-dyed a white shirt and tomorrow everyone is going to wear them. Paige's turned out reDsci0002ally good.Dsci0001

Tomorrow we're off to Asheville to see my niece graduate from college. I can't believe it's been 4 years. Got to pack and get ready.

Little pleasures of the day

There's something about being home alone... Peace and quiet, a gentle breeze blowing in the curtains and everything green outside. As I hurry about doing my Monday chores and going from one thing to another, I happiness in the little things of the day. Mayfield Banana Popsicles for a after lunch treat.Dsci0014 My hand painted stir stick .Dsci0011 Dsci0003 The sunflower seeds I'm going to plant after supper that are orange and gold. Perfect for late summer blooming. Check out this sidewalk chalk fromDsci0002 Crayola...an array of colors and I love the points. Saturday's Pots

After a 24 hour bug Thursday and Friday, I started to feel better and knew if I didn't move around I would be weaker than I was. I decided to get some flowers for my 3-tiered stand and the wicker stand I painted green during the week. In the 3-tiered stand, I went for foliage rather than bloom and the colors are vibrant and rich.Dsci0049 Dsci0050 Dsci0051 Dsci0052 My  wicker was a mixture of bloom and foliage.Dsci0046 Dsci0053 Dsci0045 This red plant will climb up onto my post lantern with my red clematis vine. Planting did take alot out of me but I felt better seeing some life and color on my porch.
