I need a bigger closet...

I say this every year...I need a bigger closet. I share one with my poor husband and he has about 1/4 of it. Yesterday I spend the morning going through and discarding anything that was too small, stained or just plain worn out. Most of the clothes stayed with the exception of some everyday tees. The majority of my days, I wear jeans and tees unless I go out somewhere special and I love skirts and dresses. I still wear my tees with the skirts for a casual look. My tees are special to me. I love unique ones with...of course...creatures or girls on them. I need to "restock" my selection but I don't like to wear things that are mass produced and being worn by everyone. I found this cute striped tee at The Small Object.

TshirtlogoadultHere's another one at Tiny Showcase.  1322The artist is Jen Corace. I love her work. She draws girls and such. I love the comfort of tees and the style of unique art. Let me know if you know of more sources for tees.

More Orange Love

Orange is one of my favorite colors and since I bought that orange vintage dress, I have put together an outfit of orange. I sewed on my new buttons and they look great. They updated the dress and made it funky. Today I found a large cuff and earring that go with my dress. The Dsci0002_2Dsci0001_2 textures vary but that makes it interesting. I hate matchy stuff.

I did buy tVintage leather purse or baghis bag from Etsy shop sydg. It reminds me of the tooled bags of the 60's and 70's.

Vintage dress update

I searched through my button collection and didn't find any buttons that struck my fancy...so I turned to my favorite Etsy and found these to update and funk up my dress. The buttons are from Tinker's Button ShopSTONE LOVE BUTTONS Can't wait to sew them on.

In the Garden...

Dsci0004_2 This is earliest I've ever planted tomatoes in my garden. Today I bought and planted 5 tomato plants but planted them the old Victorian way...in the flower garden...well sort of. Dsci0003

This one Dsci0002is in the flower garden. These are next to the house along the side walk. I chose a variety of kinds...Husky Cherry Red, Patio Cherry Tomato, Better Bush, Celebrity, and my favorite, "Mr. Stripey" Heirloom .This almost looks like a baby pumpkin.

Yesterday I was reading a new garden magazine and found this picture. Dsci0006 Here's  my version already in my flower bed.Dsci0005 The base is an old pipe I found on the side of the road years ago. Love the rust.

Today's gardening is done but this weekend I have 2 outdoor projects to do. #1 Re-web my vintage lawn chair with a blue strip webbing. #2 Paint my wicker plant stand a light, fresh green.

Another vintage dress

As I get older, I feel the need to be unique and not to have a cookie cutter style. I've always wanted to dress funky but didn't really have the nerve. Now as I'm finding more vintage dresses and thrift finds I can express my fashion sense. On a quick stop today I found this orange dress. I'll change the buttons and I love the neckline.Dsci0107 Dsci0108 This brown and cream scarf along with the orange/tan belt can compliment this dress.Dsci0106 The hemline with come about 4 inches and I can wear the dress with jeans and chocolate brown boots. I love vintage style!!!

Everything is green

The weather has been very changeable...warm, cold, windy and rainy and that's all in one day. The daffodils are about gone and now my dutch iris are beginning to bloom. Everything is green and starting to bud out. In order...dutch iris, verbena, snowball bush and thrift with pink tiny blooms.  Dsci0084 Dsci0080 Dsci0081 Dsci0083

Lots of Little Stuff

Thursday, all of the art classes at Paige's school went on a field trip to Seagrove Pottery. It's only about 1 hour from the school and they went to a few of the potter's studios. This is what Paige bought me. She said she loved the lower glaze. Dsci0073 It's a coppery glaze that almost changes colors. Speaking of Paige's school, they had the spring plant sale and I bought some ornamental grasses and a vine plant with purple beans on it. I'm not sure of the name.Dsci0096 Dsci0071 On the way back from the plant sale Friday, I stopped at a yard sale and found these...a giant wooden rolling pin and baby dish which I'm going to use as a spoon rest on my stove.Dsci0072 Dsci0078 With strawberries becoming more available, I made these after lunch...strawberries dipped in chocolate.

My neighbor had his first prom of the season and has one next Saturday. Here is a picture of Cody and Paige before he went to his girlfriend's house. Dsci0095 Dsci0091

The Best Comment Ever!!!!!

This morning when I checked my e-mail over my 2nd cup of coffee, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to look again at the comment for yesterday's post. I made mention of the new music I bought and Lex Land, on of the artist, left a comment. She said she stumbled upon my blog and wow, what a great surprise. Here's a way to check out her music. Lex Land 's music selections.

New Music and a Doll I Love

Paige is open to all music and I am influenced by her selections. Although she doesn't like my Folk Music, she likes my "old school" tastes such as Heart from the 70's. Since we listen to her music in the car most of the time, I have learned the words and enjoy most of her choices. My Chemical Romance is pretty hard but I like it and Paramore. Once a week I check I-tunes for more of my music and I lean toward folk/alternative. Here are two artist/s I found this week. Lex Land has a soft folksy voice but can also belt it out. Girl in a Coma also has that same sound and I love the song Their Cell.

Everyone who knows me well, knows I have a connection to creatures, dolls and such. The Black Apple Dolls are my favorite handmade dolls of choice but they are now hard to snatch from Etsy. These were found by accident but are just as lovely. Her Etsy shop is Oliviaew and her creations are punk like with a sweetness. My favorite so far...The pink reminds me of Paige's strip of pink.small stripe girl doll

Lost without my computer

Our computer has been down and I felt so lost without it. I didn't realize how much I use it. No checking the weather, the school website, Etsy or my favorite blogs. I had to refill my prescriptions by phone. Now I'm thrilled it's back working.

Here are some goodies added to my collections. It's from Timssally.Inward Melancholy....8x10 original

Here another girl. From juujuu.
