Asheville Trip

Paige and I went on our annual Asheville trip and I always love going. The town is full of free thinking people and such a varied lot. I totally fit in when I'm there and would someday love to move there. We ate breakfast at the Early Girl Eatery and it was wonderful. They had the BEST grits ever!Dsci0009 I found this huge canvas painting from 1959 at the Screen Door.Dsci0013 At the Woolworth Walk Gallery, I found this weird screen print on foam core of a fairy in the water. Dsci0011 It's really shiny so the picture isn't very good. Paige went to the art store and bought some pastels and also found some goodies at Woolworth. I just love that town.

Speaking of love...check out this necklace from Arielleandpamela on Etsy.

Enjoying Spring Break

Spring break for the kids is this week and I'm really enjoying Paige being off and being in vacation mode. The weather has been cold and windy here but is suppose to be nice today. Today we're leaving for a trip to Asheville to see my niece. So excited! I'll be waring my new score. It's from Blair at Wisecraft.Dsc_6961

She has an Etsy shop here.

Although the weather didn't cooperate, we did manage to take in a ballgame.Dsci0005 Here's Paige with Cody, the winning pitcher. They won 15 to 1.

Off to iron a few things to take to Asheville. I'll have pictures.

Pinkie and my to-do list for Saturday

Thursday after school I took Paige to get a pink streak in her hair. Not sure how it would turn out, I said okay. (secretly I thought it was cool) I want an orange one now. Her's turned out good and most people like it. Dsci0015 Dsci0011 It sets off her personality!

Today is one of those good busy days...filled with things I like to do.

1. Go to mall and buy more favorite jeans that fit good from Maurice's and pick up book for mom.

2. Put on ham and make strawberry congealed salad.

3. Winterize Easter outfit for tomorrow. I is suppose to be cold for Easter.

4. Work in yard ALL afternoon. I love this. Good do it for hours.

5. Pick daffodils from yard for arrangements.

I will certainly enjoy the day!

Easter vignettes, new art and more books.

Dsci0002 Dsci0004 Dsci0005 Dsci0009 Here are some Easter vignettes...Easter has snuck up on me being so early this year. Dsci0001The art in front of the mirror is a Timssally original. Here are my newest Arts & Ghosts girls. Dsci0006 The two on top...the others are AshleyG works. I just love changing things around and making new pillows, curtains and different things for each season.

Here are 2 more books I've been reading. Dsci0007Dsci0008_2

Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit because I plan on working in the yard Saturday. I'm itching to get out in my flowers but I know it's too early for even pots yet.  It's still cold and windy in NC but at least it's spring inside.

Part of the Past Gone

Early this Monday, part of North Carolina's history went up in flames. Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock caught fire and the original building burned to the ground. All of the original memorabilia was destroyed even Fred Kirby's saddle. Tweetsie Railroad had many memories for me. I had my picture taken with my favorite cowboy Fred Kirby and remember the train ride where the Indians attacked the train. When Paige was a baby and older, we took her to Tweetsie. Although Fred Kirby had passed away, the magic and memories still were there. Tweetsie celebrated 50 years lasted May and I always thought it would be part of the mountain landscape forever.  Goodbye Tweetsie and Thank You for all of the fun and happiness you brought.

Busy spring days

These days my time has been filled with spring cleaning, sewing and this...Dsci0077 It's either JV or Varsity and the games last along time and with daylight savings time...my clock is all off. I'm looking forward to a calm weekend and yes...more baseball. A game tonight and tomorrow. I've got to go support my second child (neighbor really) Dsci0079 and Paige's friends.

I stumbled unto 2 great home books at the thrift store. Dsci0002 Home Restoration and Home Essentials. I've also been enjoying these. Dsci0003Dsci0004 Dsci0005 Dsci0006 Flowers are from my garden. I'm getting excited about Easter and Paige's spring break in one week. Paige and I are going to Asheville for 2 days and the rest of the time just chill out here.

Morning of Sewing

This morning I whipped up some spring/summer cafe "curtains" for my living room. Although we have woods in front of our house, I felt exposed so I made some curtains out of a vintage sheet. Dsci0012 The colors are so bright and cheery. Dsci0013 Now I feel private yet airy and light.

Hints of Spring

I know it's still officially winter, but today in North Carolina we have a beautiful spring like day. Last night we had fierce storms with wind, rain and and hail. Most of my bulbs we beaten to the ground. I cut a few and put them into a tiny vase I bought today for $1. Dsci0002 I also found this scrap of fabric that is on the line now. Not sure what I'll do with it...maybe a tote or skirt.

Quiet Morning

My doggie has been alittle under the weather today so I've been holding him in my lap. Dsci0066 He feeling better now and taking a nap. I've been washing clothes and sort of transitioning winter to spring looking clothes...wearing greens and lighter colors. It was 70 degrees her yesterday but cloudy, windy and chilly today but spring is right around the corner. We enjoyed our HS baseball game in the warm weather but by 6:00 it was getting chilly. It's still quiet here and I think this quiet morning will linger into the afternoon.

Party Weekend and Other People's Rooms

This weekend's party was a success. All the girls came and had a good time. They are definitely growing up and it's fun to see how they change from year to year. They certainly talk about different things now days.Dsci0018 Dsci0035It's a tradition that we Silly String, Chic-fa-la nugget tray and Pizza Hut pizzas. What a group! Five VERY unique girls...what fun! Even my neighbor couldn't resist checking things out and getting some cake.Dsci0023  Dsci0001 He's like my second child and such a good boy. Paige and Cody are like brother and sister without the fights...though he;s very protective of her around boys. Dsci0071 The morning after, only 2 left.

I found this blog through wardrobe remix and I love her quirky style. Blog Full of Jelly is worth a look. Here are some neat pics of her house.
