As time fleets by, September passed with a blur, I paused in October to enjoy  these happenings.

These are just a few autumnal rituals that cause me to stop and enjoy the season if only for a brief minute. Oh yea..spending time with these two characters...

Hand-Made Pottery

 
My niece Katie has been taking pottery classes since college and has perfected her talents. She has even purchased a potter's wheel for her home. I was the lucky recipient of one of her earthy teal pendents for my birthday last month. Here are some pictures of the beads and pendants she made as well as her latest cake plate.

Inspired Again!

I took a long break from blogging because I was drained... Not motivated, no artistic vibes or decorating desires...but fall has again brought freshness and the urge to create and rejuvenate myself and my surroundings. Follow me as I begin back on a artsy, Bohemian journey!

Prom 2010

Three Days Grace Concert

My husband and daughter are big concert goers. They like hard loud rock. Sunday they went to the Three Days Grace concert along with a meet and greet before the show. At the meet and greet, the fans were able to bring something to get autographed by the band...of course Paige drew an art piece of them using the stippling technique.     Here's the band's reaction. She had a copy made for the band and all were quite pleased.  That's one happy girl!    This a skeleton hand microphone stand. How cool?     My favorite...Adam. I love his voice! If you're wondering...yes I like Three Days Grace...why didn't I go?...because I am able to spend so much more time with Paige than her daddy that...it's a good bonding thing that's all their own!

Spring Break Trip

Spring Break is now complete. A whole week of fun stuff, sickness, travel and flexible schedules. With Paige almost at the end of her junior year, she is starting to think college. After visiting Appalachian this week she says it's way too big and has marked it off her list. To her surprise, another mountain college is at the top of her list. The art department and major are very impressive and the professors we met are wonderful.
With me, any excuse to head to the hills is enough to get me excited.    After that tour, we ate at Fred's on Beech Mountain. A quaint general store with a restaurant overlooking the scenery.    The North Carolina mountains got so much snow this year. Beech Mountain had 130 inches and is expecting alittle more. There was still snow left on the ski slopes.   This is Sugar Mountain.

 

Happy 17th! Party Weekend!

My baby turns 17 Monday. It seems like yesterday that she was sitting at her pink table coloring and now she's at the kitchen table drawing with the watercolor pencils she got for her birthday. Paige and her friends celebrated at Chilli's and then to the mall, chocolate shop and then home for sleepover Friday night. Tonight was the family party and tomorrow it's just the three of us celebrating.
